Supermom Syndrome

More than once in my life I’ve had “supermom syndrome”.  I’m sure many of you reading this have had it too or maybe you’ve even diagnosed someone with it before.  I’ve never really understood what someone means when they use the term “supermom”.  Is it a good thing or a bad thing? Are you complimenting someone or chastising them? Are you jealous of them or impressed by them?

I love being a Mom. I give it 110% effort just like I would any job because in my opinion this is THE most important job!

I think it’s meant as a compliment many times, however, I sometimes feel like Moms who use the term “supermom” feel “less than” or that they aren’t doing a “good enough” job as the one being labeled a “supermom”.  My reply to that is STOP IT!! Being a Mom is stressful enough and our duties alone equate to nothing less then having super powers (minus the cool cape) to complete them all…mother, housekeeper, chef, teacher, nurse, coach, chauffeur, story teller, monster killer, planner, organizer, crafter, decorator, best friend, multi-tasking queen, etc.  Even the ones who appear to “have it all together” or those who you label “supermom” get stressed & overwhelmed.  They just hide it well.

Guess what? Some moms have learned how to balance it all REALLY well.

If only we had a “supermom” cape! What would your “super power” be?

I have been be diagnosed with “supermom syndrome” before and here is what I think about it…I’m just trying to be the best darn Mom I can be for my 4 kids.  The only people I’m out to impress are my kids, my husband, & my God.  I’m not trying to “out Mom” anyone or “show up” anyone.

I want to be fun, creative, loving, encouraging, inspirational, motivating, strong, and all of those other things that every good Mom wants to be.  I try to do my very best!

My mind NEVER stops!!!

I’m always doing something…that’s just me.  I like to be busy.  Even when I’m relaxing in front of the tv I’m on my ipad or my phone catching up on emails, social media or surfing the web for new ideas. I just like to be busy!

I like to make my kids and my husband smile.

I like to throw parties for different holidays because it makes my kids happy (and I have fun doing it).

I like to do things with my family that are are memorable and fun.  Every day is a celebration! I just enjoy making others feel special and loved.

I like to make fun, crafty projects with my kids because it’s better than sitting in front of the tv, computer or playing video games.  I am a creative person. I enjoy making fun little gifts for teachers, friends and etc.  It’s just what I do!

I don’t “have it all together”…not even close!

We all know there is NO perfect Mom out there.  Instead of “labeling” each other, I think we should be embracing each other & helping each other.  We need to be supporting each other and inspiring each other.  We have one of the toughest jobs in the world and it just keeps getting harder and harder as the world gets crazier and crazier.

So instead of comparing ourselves to what other’s are doing, just do the best YOU can and do what works for YOU.  I always tell my kids, “to always do their best even when no one is looking” and “to give 110% in everything they do”.

This applies to us Mom’s too.

We all have our own talents, strengths and weaknesses.  We all have “supermom syndrome” if you ask me.  We are all raising children in this fast paced (sometimes scary) world & if we keep them alive for another day…we’ve done our job!

In the eyes of your kiddos, you are “supermom”! Just ask them.

Stop being so hard on yourself.

Just be the best Mom that YOU know how to be…your kids deserve it.

Why I Drink a Gallon of Water a Day

Those who know me well, know that I ALWAYS have water with me.  Aside from coffee & green tea, it’s pretty much my “go to” drink.  I start drinking it after my first cup of coffee in the morning and I carry it with me throughout my day…from room to room when I’m home, outside, on a walk, on a bike ride, when I run errands & when I go to bed.  I love water & up until a few days ago, I thought I drank a lot. Turns out it wasn’t as much as I thought it was.  So now my new goal is to drink a gallon of water a day.

I had seen this idea on Pinterest before and finally decided to give it a try.  So I got myself a 97 cent jug of Spring Water at the store and wrote some inspirations on it.  I then made it my goal to drink the entire jug of water every day.  You can add whatever time increments you want…I chose what I thought would work for me.

Make it your goal to drink a gallon of water a day. Use this idea to help keep you on track!

Every morning I refill the jug and leave it on the counter and refill my cup throughout the day.  I’ve been doing this for a little over 2 weeks now.  Like I said, I thought I drank plenty of water every day but it turns out drinking a gallon of water is day isn’t always that easy when your day gets busy or hectic.  This jug really helps me to stay on track & drinking.

Drinking water as you’ve heard over and over is so good for your health.  Here are just a few very important & very interesting reasons to drink more water:

(1) Water cushions your joints.

(2) Water composes 75% of your brain, 22% of your bones, 75% of your muscles & 83% of your blood.

(3) Water helps flush out toxins and waste.

(4) Water helps carry nutrients and oxygen to your cells.

(5)  Water has no fat, no carbs, no calories, & no sugar.

(6) Water lowers your risk of a heart attack by 41%.

(7) Water gives your skin a healthy glow.

(8) Water reduces the risk of colon cancer by 45% and bladder cancer by 50%.

(9) Water increases your metabolism, thus aiding in weight loss.

(10) Water gives you energy.

If you’ve tried this or plan to try this, I’d love to hear how it goes for you! So many people are not drinking enough water a day and some are not drinking any.  Can you imagine? I can’t! Happy drinking!!

25 Uses for Peppermint Essential Oil That Will Save You Money

I have a new found love and passion for essential oils, not only for their medicinal & health uses but for using around my home as well.  I must admit that when I first heard about using essential oils, I didn’t quite get it.  I thought it was kind of a “hippy” thing.  But then I ordered my first bottle and a few months later ordered 3 more.  Now, I’m hooked! I just love using something that is natural & actually good for your body instead of toxic chemicals that we find in medications, cleaners, & etc. Using essential oils in your home is not only healthier for you & your family but it can actually save you money too because one bottle of essential oil can be used for many different uses and it only takes a few drops in many cases.  Think about how long that bottle will last you & how much money you could save!

Peppermint Essential Oil is a non-toxic way to add healthy benefits to your household cleaners, cosmetics, medicine cabinet & more.

  • Use it when cleaning as it has antifungal and antibacterial properties. Fill a spray bottle with 2 parts water to 1 part vinegar.  This is the basic cleaning mixture.  You can add an essential oil like peppermint essential oil, lemon essential oil or tea tree essential oil (10-20 drops) for a great smell & extra cleaning power. Shake before each use.

Using essential oils in your home is a great way to eliminate toxins in your home.  They are the perfect solution for the problems that chemicals, poor nutrition and stress add to our daily lives.  There are many different brands of essential oils to choose from, my suggestion is to find one that is 100% pure.  Please feel free to email me at for more suggestions.

Just a Mom on a Mission…

Welcome to my Happy Clean Life!! I’m so excited about this new blogging journey.  I’m just a Mom on a mission to make the world a healthier, happier place.

I’m sure you are wondering who I am and what is a happy clean life…don’t we all want that as opposed to a sad dirty life? I am a very blessed Mom of 4 beautiful children (ages 5, 8, 11 & 15).  I have been a stay-at-home-mom for the past 10 1/2 years.  I’m married to my best friend, biggest cheerleader & the best supporter of all of my crazy ideas.  We will be celebrating our 12th wedding anniversary in July…where does the time go? I’m a Midwest country girl…born and raised on a farm.  My family & I moved from Illinois almost 5 years ago just a little east to Indiana.  We’ve built a great life here in Hoosier country.

We love being outside & recently we took the kids hiking at Turkey Run State Park. We had a blast & all got a great workout living a happy clean life.

So over the past 10 1/2 years that I’ve been a stay-at-home-mom, I’ve dabbled in a few network marketing businesses, started my own hand-made notecard business, jewelry business, hair accessories business, dj business, mechanical bull business and now finally I found my passion.  I love helping people lose weight & live healthier lives. I have been in the health and wellness industry for 2 years and over those 2 years I have learned SO much about nutrition, fitness, healthy cooking, supplementation, ingredients in foods & products, and so much more.  I’m really driven to help others make healthier choices when it comes to fitness, nutrition & the products they use.

I decided to really share my passion with others, I needed more than a Facebook page or an Instagram account.  So, here starts my blogging journey.  My goal is to educate people on how easy it is to make simple changes that can dramatically change your health (and sometimes wealth).  I don’t live a 100% clean life all of the time but I have learned that making healthier choices every day is so important.  Too many people are suffering from obesity, health issues, chronic pain and etc that in my opinion can be controlled by making simple changes in the foods they are eating, their activity level and the products being used.  I realize that most people are not going to live 100% organic & clean.  I don’t even live that kind of life.  I do however make healthier choices & choose organic & natural when I can.  You see, about a year ago it hit me. I realized that what I want more than anything is to live a long healthy life and to live on this earth as long as I can.  I see far too many people suffering every day with some sort of pain and I don’t want that for my life.  So I started really educating myself & boy have I learned a lot and I’m still learning.  I’m intrigued by natural remedies, natural products, & natural ingredients as opposed to chemicals and toxins.  Living healthier doesn’t always mean more expensive either because how expensive do you think being sick is? How expensive are doctor visits? Hospital visits? Prescription drugs?

I come across & collect so many great ideas, tips, tricks, info, recipes and etc about living healthier and I just want to share them with you.  Even a few small changes can have a big impact on your health.  I’m all about fun, healthy ideas that will have us all living happier cleaner lives.

I value your feedback and comments but I ask that you understand that what I post is my opinion & I realize not everyone agrees with me.  Please feel free to share your comment below or email me at  I’m also on Facebook & Instagram.
